JOINING
GROßDEUTSCHLAND
To join our unit you must be able to spare at least 3-4 weekends a year, have the means to get to our events in the Pacific Northwest, the money to fund your hobby, a reasonable level of fitness, a willingness to learn, get on well in a group environment and most importantly, a genuine interest in the German Army of WWII. Recruits can join the unit from the age of 18 years old or 16-17 years old with parental consent waivers signed and notarized for each event.
We are always on the look out for new members to swell our ranks! So if you fancy the portrayal of a Großdeutschland Grenadier from Early to Late-war period, please get in touch by filling out the form below and we'll get back to you as soon as we can - we reply to all questions.
Before you fill in the form we do have an entrance policy, and there are some things you need to be aware of.
-
NO NAZIS. We are an non-political group and will not tolerate any form of political extremism.
-
You should try to attend at least 3-4 events a year on our calendar. We do public living history shows, public battles, and private battles. This is a commitment hobby, attending events simply means getting the most out of your membership.

It can be expensive. We have kit which we can lend out on a short term basis, but realistically you have to think in terms of the basic kit setting you back about $800-$1000 and you having it together within the first 12 months of joining. Everything you will need is comprehensively explained in our illustrated new starters pack and you will be guided through the process by the group leadership.

For an authentic experience, grooming standards of the period will be enforced. Every participant must arrive with a clean period haircut, clean shaven, and be prepared to shave in the field as required. Regulation trimmed moustaches are authorized with unit leadership approval. No beards or long hair allowed.

Dues. To help pay for purchasing and maintaining loaner gear and unit awards, GD charges its members dues. Participants are not required to pay dues unless they wish to become a full member. Full membership benefits include issuance of a Soldbuch (ID/Paybook), a cufftitle on completion of the third event, and becoming edible to earn unit awards. Currently member dues consist of a one time $60 entry fee to pay for your Soldbuch and cufftitle, followed by $5 each event. These amounts are subject to change.

As a unit we go on patrols for hours across miles of uneven ground carrying 30-40 lbs of equipment. So you must have a basic level of physical fitness capacity to accomplish this.

You must be at least 18 years old or 16-17 years old with parental consent to attend our events due to our Liability Insurance requirements. If you are younger, please reach out to us when you are of age. Thanks.
